IBM has developed a mainframe processor with a unique dual-architecture core that natively runs both Arm and IBM Z or LinuxONE instructions, enabling mixed workload environments on a single machine. The chip, built on a 2-nanometer process, integrates AI inference accelerators and advanced I/O capabilities, supporting the expansion of Arm-native Linux applications into traditional IBM mainframe platforms.
