Anthropic develops framework allowing AI agents to control physical equipment

Anthropic has developed the Model Hardware Standard (MHS), a framework that enables AI agents to control programmable laboratory and manufacturing equipment such as microscopes and robotic arms, supporting autonomous workflows with limited human intervention. The framework targets applications in drug discovery and quantum computing calibration and will be shared initially with partners for safety evaluations before open-source release.
