Databricks acquires Electric and brings Postgres to AI agents

Databricks has acquired Electric, the company behind a lightweight WASM version of Postgres called PGlite and a real-time sync engine, enabling AI agents to manage their own sandboxed databases synchronized with Lakebase. This acquisition builds on Databricks’ previous buy of Neon and supports their LTAP architecture, integrating OLTP and OLAP workloads with a unified Postgres standard.
