A power fault at Google Cloud's London data centre caused significant service disruptions for Revolut and other financial institutions, affecting millions of users' access to payments and banking services in the UK and Cyprus on 20 October 2026.

This Wire brief sits within Fusion42's coverage of Fintech, and 35 sources have reported it between 20 Oct 2026 and 26 Oct 2026.

◆ ◆ The Wire takeaway

You must reduce your dependency on a single cloud provider as one outage can paralyse your operations and erode customer trust overnight. Look for failovers or multi-region setups to protect your payments and banking services.
